Salabhanjika

Rissala Collection

Salabhanjika is mostly represented as an elegantly adorned woman, poised under a stylized tree or holding onto a tree branch. In various artistic interpretations, she may be depicted engaging in activities such as dancing, playing a musical instrument, or applying cosmetics and jewelry. In this particular sculpture, Salabhanjika is illustrated in a Tribhanga posture, characterized by her serene and contemplative expression, with her eyes partially closed. She is embellished with intricate jewelry, which includes necklaces, earrings, armbands, and a waist belt. Additionally, she may be seen holding a leaf in one hand.
